Diamonds are cut to interact with light in a way that gives them incredible brightness, fire, and sparkle. The way a diamond is cut can affect its clarity, and even its color. We recently had the opportunity to create an elegant custom emerald cut engagement ring with one of our lovely clients. Excited by this design, we are sharing more about emerald cut diamonds with you.
This image shows a comparison between the round brilliant cut diamonds (left) and emerald cut diamonds (right).
From the photo we can see the long narrow lines or facets that gives the stone the hall-of-mirror effect.[/caption] Now, although the round brilliant cut is a more popular cut of diamond, it shares the spotlight with the fancy cuts (gemstone shape other than round), in particular the emerald cut diamond. The unique look of the emerald cut diamond is created by a cutting style with lustrous, long, narrow facets and its large, open table. These long narrow facets allow the diamond to catch light beautifully, producing a hall-of-mirror effect. Even more, the simplicity of its design and bold, geometric symmetry emphasize diamonds transparency. Thus, letting the viewer see into the heart of the stone.
From this image, we can see the progression from the design report (left) and final render (right) of the engagement ring.
